Community

The first 3 year phase of the Northern Devon Nature improvement Area has drawn to a close in March 2015.

We have seen amazing participation and achievement from the NIA communities, with hundreds of habitat walks and other events, school visits, volunteering sessions.

Most exciting of all is the sense that as a community, the population from the NIA parishes of are only just getting started, and there is a huge wealth of enthusiasm seeking ways to promote local wildlife.

Major community initiatives for Phase 2 of the Northern Devon Nature improvement Area are still in development, but keep an eye on this website for more information are things progress.

Meanwhile, if you are keen to get involved with community initiatives in the NIA you can contact the NIA office at Cookworthy or contact Matt Edworthy (Community Outreach Officer, North Devon Biosphere Reserve) on 01271 388647 / Matt.Edworthy@devon.gov.uk.

Alternatively you could consider volunteering with Devon Wildlife Trust or getting involved with the wealth of citizen science initiatives available.
